We didn’t lose all the technology from the Space Race, we just don’t use it every day anymore.
The Space Race was like a big competition between two teams: one team from America, and the other from Russia. They tried to see who could do cool things in space first, like sending people up there or landing on the moon.
During this race, both teams made amazing technology, like super strong computers, special materials that can handle extreme heat, and even early versions of GPS, something we use every day when we find our way with phones!
But after the Space Race ended, many of these technologies were put away in a "technology closet" because they weren’t needed as much anymore. It’s like having a toy you used to play with all the time, but now it sits on a shelf.
However, some of those cool inventions came back into our lives in new ways, just like how a toy can turn into a game or a tool for something else! So even though we don’t use everything from the Space Race every day, we still have some really smart tools thanks to it.
