Dividing by zero?

Dividing by zero is like asking your friend to share zero cookies among you and all your friends, but there are no cookies to begin with.

Imagine you have 6 cookies, and you want to divide them equally between 2 people. Each person gets 3 cookies, that’s easy. But what if you try to split those same 6 cookies among zero people? That doesn’t make sense, there's no one to get the cookies!

Now think about dividing by zero like this: If you have nothing, and you want to share it with nobody, how can anyone know how much they should get?

It’s kind of like saying, “I gave you 0 candies, and I did that zero times.” It doesn’t tell you anything, it's just an empty idea.

Sometimes in math, we say dividing by zero is "undefined" because there’s no clear answer. It’s not a real number, it’s more like a missing piece of a puzzle.
