How Did Ancient Civilizations Make Glass?

Ancient people made glass using sand, fire, and a little magic. Imagine mixing sand with some special ingredients and heating it in a big pot, like cooking but for glass! When the mixture gets really hot, it turns into liquid glass, and when it cools down, it becomes clear and hard, just like a window.

The ancient Egyptians were early masters at this craft. They used fire to melt sand mixed with ash, which is like burned plants, in big clay pots called furnaces. This process made glass that was clear or colored depending on the ingredients they used.

If you put sugar, water, and a bit of heat together, it turns into syrup. Similarly, sand becomes glass with fire.
