Paper money started when people realized carrying coins was a pain. Long ago, people used real things like cows or grains to trade. Later, they used metal coins, but they were heavy and hard to carry. So, someone came up with the idea of using paper instead, it was lighter and easier to carry around. People trusted that the paper could be turned back into real value later. And just like that, paper money began to appear in many places!
Examples
- Carrying a bag of coins is like lugging around bricks, paper money feels much lighter.
- A child can carry a whole wallet full of paper bills without breaking a sweat.
