How Coins Were Made
People would melt down metal, like copper or silver, and pour it into molds. When the metal cooled down, they had round coins with edges and designs on them. These coins were easy to carry because they were small and strong.
Why People Used Coins
Coins made trading easier because you didn’t have to carry a lot of things to trade. You just needed to give someone a coin or get one from them, like using a play money piece in a game, but for real stuff!
Examples
- Ancient people used shiny disks made of copper to buy food.
