How Did the First Maps Get Made?

Long ago, people made maps by watching the world around them. Like when you draw a picture of your room from memory, that’s how they started. They looked at the sun and stars to know directions, and drew mountains and rivers like they were on paper. Sometimes they even used clay or stones to mark places!
