Before the Industrial Revolution, people worked on farms or in small shops, and they usually had control over their own time. But after the revolution, many people started working in big factories, where they had to follow strict schedules and work long hours, it was like going from a fun game to a never-ending race!
Examples
- Children used to help their families on farms, but in factories, they were often forced to work long hours, sometimes for little pay.
- People who lived near their workplaces could walk or ride a horse to get there, now, many had to live in crowded cities just to be close to the factories.
