How Did the Internet Originate from a Military Project?

Imagine you have a big group of friends who all live in different houses, but they want to send messages to each other without anyone eavesdropping. So they use secret paths and special codes to talk, that’s kind of like how the internet started! A long time ago, a military project called ARPANET helped connect computers across the United States so information could travel quickly even if something went wrong in one place. This secret system grew and became what we now call the internet.
