How Do Ants Decide Which Way to Go?

Ants are tiny explorers who never get lost. They leave behind an invisible chemical scent as they walk, creating a road map for their friends to follow.

When an ant finds food, it runs back home leaving a trail of smell. Other ants sniff the ground and choose the strongest smell. This is like following a breadcrumb path made of air smells.

Ants also have excellent eyesight. They use the position of the sun to know which way is north or south. Even on cloudy days, they can see the light patterns in the sky to keep their direction straight.
