Imagine a long, thin wire that carries a flash of light. This is how your body sends messages. Your brain uses tiny cells called neurons. When you touch something hot, a message zooms down a axon, which is like a highway for signals.

The Chemical Handoff

The signal cannot jump gaps on its own. At the end of the wire, it triggers a tiny bubble called a synaptic vesicle. This bubble pops and releases chemicals named neurotransmitters. These chemicals float across a small gap called the synapse. They land on the next neuron, like a key fitting into a lock. This tells the next cell to start its own signal. It is a relay race where the baton is made of chemicals, not wood.
