We find out what the past was like by looking at things that are still around today, like old buildings or bones. Archaeologists dig up these clues and use them to guess how people lived long ago. It's like solving a big puzzle with pieces from different times.
Examples
- A kid finds an old bottle in the sandbox and thinks it's magical.
- An archaeologist finds a skeleton near a river and guesses that person lived by fishing.
- A teacher shows students a picture from ancient Egypt and asks what they think people ate.
