Why Does It Work?
Sand is mostly made of a mineral called silica, which turns into glass when it melts. The more heat you apply, the smoother the glass becomes. People have been doing this for thousands of years, even ancient Egyptians used it to make shiny jewelry and mirrors.
Examples
- Imagine making syrup from tiny white granules, that's how sand becomes glass.
