How Does a Sunrise Actually Happen?

A sunrise happens when the Sun moves behind the Earth, and we start to see it again after a long night.

Imagine you're in your bedroom, and your mom goes out for a walk. When she leaves, the room gets dark. But when she comes back, light floods the room again, that’s like a sunrise! The Sun is like your mom going on a walk. While it's behind the Earth, we don’t see it, but as it comes around, we see its light once more.

The Earth spins like a top. As it turns, different parts of it face the Sun, that’s daytime, and other parts turn away, that’s nighttime. When your part of the world turns back toward the Sun, you see its light again, and boom, there's a sunrise!

The Sun is like a giant, glowing ball in the sky. It doesn’t stop shining, it just moves out of our view while we're sleeping. When the Earth turns back toward it, we get to see its bright face once more, and that’s how a sunrise actually happens!
