How Does Airbnb Work For Guests?

Airbnb is like renting a stranger’s spare room or whole house for a night or two, just like borrowing your neighbor’s toy car but sleeping in it instead.

When you want to stay somewhere new, you open the Airbnb app on your tablet. It looks like a big picture book of houses and rooms from all over the world. You pick one that has the things you need, like a cozy bed or a kitchen with cereal boxes. Once you click Book, you pay using your own money stored in the app, much like handing over coins for an ice cream cone.

Finding Your Spot

The owner of the house, called the Host, keeps their keys and sets rules for guests. You send a message to ask if the place is ready. When you arrive, you might get a special code for the front door or find a basket with snacks and a handwritten note inside. The host leaves so you can feel like the whole house is yours. You sleep in your own bed, eat their food, and watch TV without anyone bothering you.

Going Home

When your trip ends, you pack your bags and leave the keys where they belong. Airbnb makes sure everything goes smoothly by checking that you didn’t break any windows or spill too much juice. Then, you tell your friends how great the stay was by leaving a Review, which is like writing a sticker on their drawing. Next time you go away, you can stay at that same place again because now it feels like a second home for you!
