How Does Fertilization Work?

Fertilization is when two special cells join together to make a new life start.

Imagine you have two tiny balls, one from a mom and one from a dad. These balls are called eggs and sperm, respectively. When they meet, it's like a fun party where they combine their stuff to create a brand-new ball that will grow into a baby.

Think of the egg as a recipe book from the mom and the sperm as a recipe book from the dad. When they join together, they mix all their recipes, this new mix is like a special ingredient that becomes a baby inside the mom’s body.

The sperm has to travel through a tiny tunnel (like a slide) to reach the egg. Once they meet and combine, the new ball starts growing, it's like starting a little plant from a seed, but in the body of the mom.
