Astronauts on SpaceX’s first crewed mission will float around inside a spaceship like they're playing in a giant bubble bath.
SpaceX is like a really cool toy company that builds super fast, super strong rockets, think of them as the fastest trains you've ever seen, but going up to space instead of down the track. On this first crewed mission, astronauts will be inside one of these rockets, called Crew Dragon, and they’ll ride it all the way to the International Space Station, which is like a giant spaceship hotel floating in space.
What They'll Do
- The astronauts will float around because there's no gravity up there, it’s like being in a giant bubble bath where you don’t have to stand on the floor.
- They’ll do some experiments, like scientists doing fun tests in their lab.
- They’ll maybe even take pictures of Earth from space, like taking selfies with the whole planet as the background.
This mission is kind of like going on a field trip, but instead of riding the bus to school, they’re riding a rocket to a space hotel!
Examples
- An astronaut might check the spaceship's systems to make sure everything is working before launch.
- They could float around in zero gravity and try to catch a ball.
