Why do they grow?
Imagine your joint is like a door that opens and closes all day. Over time, if the door gets worn out or doesn’t close properly, your body might decide to add a little bone to help it work better, just like adding a brick to hold up a wobbly wall.
How do they feel?
Sometimes these extra bits of bone don’t bother you at all. But when they press on nearby nerves or tissues, they can cause pain or stiffness, like when your shoe gets too tight and starts pinching your toe.
Your body is smart! It adds these little bone spurs to help your joints stay strong and keep working even after years of use.
