Scientists made the first synthetic cell by building one from scratch, like making a new toy from all its parts.
Like Building a Lego House
Think of a cell as a tiny living house. Inside it are special helpers called organelles, which do jobs like cooking food or cleaning up trash. Scientists wanted to make a brand-new cell, so they took the most important parts, like the instructions for building and running the cell, and put them into a bubble that looked just like a real cell.
The Recipe for Life
They used DNA, which is like a recipe book inside every living thing. They gave their new cell this recipe, along with tools to read it and make more helpers. Then they added a special membrane, or skin, around everything so the cell could stay together and keep working.
It was like giving a brand-new robot all the parts it needed to turn on, move, and grow, and then watching it start living its own life!
