SpaceX launches are like sending a giant toy rocket from Earth to space using a super strong backpack.
SpaceX is like a team of smart engineers and builders who make rockets that can fly really, really high, all the way into space. A launch is when they send their rocket up, just like you might launch a toy car with a spring-loaded launcher.
How it works
Imagine your rocket is like a giant straw, and inside it are fuel and oxygen, which act like the air you blow out to make a balloon fly. When they start the launch, they mix these two things together and light them on fire, this creates a big whoosh of power that pushes the rocket up.
The rocket has engines at the bottom, like feet that help it walk all the way into space. These engines get really hot, so they have special tiles to protect them, kind of like wearing socks to keep your feet warm on a cold day.
Once the rocket is high enough, parts of it fall off like pieces of a ladder you leave behind as you climb up a tree. This helps the rocket go faster and farther into space!
