Like Two Blocks Hugging
Earth's surface is made of giant slabs called tectonic plates. The Indian plate was slowly moving northward, like a kid walking toward their friend during recess. When it met the Eurasian plate, they didn’t just stop, they started pushing into each other!
This push-and-squeeze action is like pressing two soft playdough sheets together. Over millions of years, the pressure made the land rise up and fold over itself, forming the tallest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas.
A Slow, Steady Push
It’s not just one big crash, it's a long, slow squeeze that happened over many millions of years. It's like pressing your hand against a wall little by little until you feel yourself getting taller, that’s how mountains grow!
