How Does The Declaration of Independence | Road to the Revolution Work?

The Declaration of Independence is like a super-detailed letter that said, “We are breaking up with Britain!”

What’s the Road to the Revolution?

Imagine you’re in a big family, and you’ve been sharing toys for years. But one day, your older brother starts taking all the good toys without asking, and he won’t let you play fair anymore. You feel angry, upset, and ready to stand up for yourself.

That’s kind of what happened with the American colonists and Britain. The British were like that older brother, they kept giving rules, taxes, and orders, but didn’t give much in return. The colonists got annoyed, and eventually, they said, “We’re done!”

The Declaration of Independence

When the colonists finally decided to break away from Britain, they wrote a special letter called the Declaration of Independence. It was like a big, fancy goodbye note, it listed all the reasons why they were leaving, like unfair taxes and not being treated fairly.

Then, on July 4th, they officially said, “We’re free!”, and that’s how the United States began!
