The last day of the dinosaurs happened really fast, like when you’re playing outside and suddenly it starts raining hard.

It started with a big flash of light from the sky, like when you turn on a super bright lamp. This was a giant rock called an asteroid crashing into Earth near what is now Mexico. It made a huge boom, and a lot of dust went up into the air.

The dust blocked out the sun, like when you put a blanket over a lamp. This made it get colder and darker, so plants couldn’t grow very well. The dinosaurs didn't have warm clothes to wear, just skin, so they got cold and hungry.

The big asteroid also caused huge waves in the ocean, like when you drop a rock into a puddle. These waves hit the land, making it shake and fall apart, kind of like when your tower of blocks falls over because you bumped it.
