How El Niño could change the world | The Global Story?

El Niño is like a giant, warm ocean wave that changes how weather behaves around the world.

Imagine you're in a bathtub with water up to your waist. If you suddenly pour in a big bucket of hot water from the side, it will push some of the cooler water to the other end, and make a mess! That’s kind of what happens with El Niño. It's when the ocean near the equator gets really warm, pushing weather patterns all over the globe.

Normally, winds blow from east to west in the Pacific Ocean, carrying cool water toward Asia and Australia. But during El Niño, those winds slow down or even stop, like if you stopped stirring your soup. The warm water stays near South America instead of going far away.

This causes big weather changes:

• Places that usually get a lot of rain might have droughts.
• Places that are dry might suddenly get floods.
• In some areas, it gets much hotter than usual, like when you leave your shoes in the sun and they feel like they're burning your feet!
