The Rosetta Stone helped people understand hieroglyphics, which are like ancient pictures that told stories.
Imagine you have a book written in a language you don’t know, but there’s also a version of the same book in a language you do know. That’s what the Rosetta Stone was like, it had the same message written in hieroglyphics, in a script called Demotic, and in Greek.
A Clue in Three Languages
Think of it like having three copies of your favorite song: one in your native language, one in a language you're learning, and one in a secret code. If you know the words to the song in your native language, you can figure out what the other versions sound like.
That’s exactly what happened with the Rosetta Stone. Scholars knew Greek, so they could compare it to the other scripts and slowly figured out how hieroglyphics worked, just like learning a new language by listening to songs you already know!
