What Are Asteroids?
How Do We Mine Them?
Imagine you're playing with a toy box full of treasures, but it's way up high on the top shelf. To get to the treasure, you need a ladder and some tools.
That’s what we do with asteroids! First, we send a spaceship or robot (like a ladder) up to the asteroid. Then it uses special tools (like a shovel) to dig out the shiny stuff. Once we have that, we bring it back home, like bringing candy from a treasure chest!
It's not magic, it’s just clever work with machines and lots of planning. And one day, maybe we'll be able to get gold straight from space! It’s like digging for treasure in a big rock pile, only the rocks are way out in space!
Examples
- A child wants to collect shiny rocks from the sky, just like digging in a sandbox.
- Imagine if you could bring home gold and silver by simply catching them floating through space.
