Is it possible to mine asteroids for valuable resources?

Asteroids are big rocks that float around in space, mostly between Mars and Jupiter. Some of them have shiny stuff inside, like gold, silver, or even diamonds!

Imagine you're playing with a toy box full of treasures, but it's way up high on the top shelf. To get to the treasure, you need a ladder and some tools.

That’s what we do with asteroids! First, we send a spaceship or robot (like a ladder) up to the asteroid. Then it uses special tools (like a shovel) to dig out the shiny stuff. Once we have that, we bring it back home, like bringing candy from a treasure chest!
