Observations and Inferences- What's the Difference ?

Observations are what you see or feel, and inferences are guesses you make based on those observations.

Imagine you're looking at a plate that’s full of cookies. You notice it has crumbs around the edge, that’s your observation. Now, you might think someone was eating cookies and dropped some, that's your inference.

Like Looking for Clues

Think of it like solving a mystery! If you see a shiny wet floor, that's your observation. You might guess that the sprinkler went on, that’s your inference. But maybe someone spilled water instead!

Guessing Games

If you see a black cat sitting by the door, that’s an observation. If you think it means bad luck is coming, that's an inference. You might be wrong, maybe it just likes to sit by the door.

So remember: observations are what you notice, and inferences are your best guesses about why things happen!
