What are anti-vaccine movements?

Anti-vaccine movements are groups of people who choose not to get vaccines or encourage others not to get them.

Imagine you're playing in a big sandbox with your friends. Every day, some kids come down with the flu and have to go home. But then there's one kid who never gets sick, they always bring something special with them that helps them stay healthy. That something is like a vaccine.

Now, imagine some of your friends say, "Why do we need that special thing? Maybe it’s not so good!" They start a group and decide to try playing in the sandbox without using that special thing. That's what happens in anti-vaccine movements, some people think vaccines aren’t needed or might even cause problems.

Why they happen

Sometimes, people hear stories about others who didn't like getting shots or got sick after one. These stories can spread and make others feel unsure. It’s like when someone says the cookie jar is broken, and suddenly everyone thinks there are no cookies left!

But most of the time, vaccines are like that special thing in the sandbox, they help keep people healthy and happy to play together!
