What are atheists?

An atheist is someone who does not believe in a god or gods.

Imagine you are looking for a specific toy in a messy room. If you look everywhere and cannot find it, you might decide the toy is not there. An atheist has looked for proof of God, like finding a hidden note, a special sign, or a clear answer, and hasn’t found any yet. So they conclude that God is not part of their world. It is not about being grumpy or rejecting others’ beliefs. It is simply a conclusion based on what can be seen and tested, much like how you know the sun rises because you see it happen every morning.

Think of how you use a flashlight in a dark closet. If the light does not turn on, you check the batteries. You do not guess that a ghost is holding the switch. Atheists use this same kind of thinking for big questions. They look for evidence they can touch, measure, or observe.

Just like you don’t need magic to explain why your ice cream melts, atheists don’t need a god to explain how the world works.

Atheists live just like everyone else. They go to school, play games, and care for family. Their choice is simply based on what they have observed so far.
