What are bezier curves?

Bezier curves are smooth lines that you can shape by moving special points called control points.

Imagine you're drawing a line on a piece of paper, but instead of just holding your pencil steady, you use two fingers to guide it, one at the start and one at the end. As you move your fingers around, the line bends and twists like it’s following them. That's kind of how Bezier curves work.

How control points shape the curve

Let’s say you're drawing a smiley face. You start with a dot on the left side of your paper, that’s the first point. Then you use your finger to guide the pencil toward the right, where another dot is, that's the second point. But if you move your finger up while drawing, the line goes up too, like it's being pulled by an invisible string. Those guiding fingers are like control points, they help decide how the curve bends.

You can have more control points to make even more interesting shapes, just like adding more fingers to guide your pencil in different directions!
