What are complicated interfaces?

A complicated interface is like a toy that has too many buttons and switches to do something simple.

Imagine you have a robot dog. It can bark, wag its tail, sit up, and even dance. But instead of one button to make it bark, there are five different buttons, some red, some blue, some big, some tiny. Each does something slightly different, but they all seem to do the same thing. That makes it hard for you to know which one to press if you just want your dog to bark.

That’s what a complicated interface feels like, too many ways to do the same thing, making it confusing instead of fun.

A simple interface is like a remote control with only three buttons: one for turning on the TV, one for changing channels, and one for turning it off. Easy to use!

But if that remote has 20 buttons, some blinking, some colored differently, and they all do slightly different things, it becomes hard to know what each button does. That’s when you feel frustrated instead of happy.

So a complicated interface is like having too many choices for something simple, making it harder to use than it needs to be.
