Creatures are living things that move and do fun stuff, just like you and your friends.
Imagine you're playing with a toy dog, it doesn’t move on its own, but if it could, it would be a creature. A real dog is also a creature because it runs, barks, and plays with you. Creatures can be big or small, fast or slow, like your brother who zooms around the house or your grandma who walks slowly but sings a lot.
What Makes Something a Creature?
A creature needs to do three things:
- Be alive, like when you're eating a sandwich and feeling happy.
- Move, like when you jump up to catch a ball.
- Do stuff, like when you draw a picture or laugh at a joke.
Some creatures are easy to find, like birds in the sky or fish in the water. Others might be hiding under your bed, maybe even a creature that likes to tickle your toes while you're asleep!
Examples
- A dog is a creature because it can move and breathe on its own.
