What are democratic countries?

A democratic country is one where people get to choose their leaders and have a say in how things are run.

Imagine you're at school, and it's time to pick your class president. Instead of the teacher just choosing someone, everyone gets to vote for who they want. That’s like what happens in a democratic country, only instead of a class, it's all the people in the whole country voting!

How It Works

In many democratic countries, people vote every few years to pick who will be their leader, like a king or queen, but one that is chosen by the people. These leaders help make rules and decisions for everyone.

Sometimes, there are more than one person helping out, like a team of friends, and they all get to vote too. That’s how some democratic countries work, with groups of people making choices together.

If you don’t like your leader anymore, you can pick someone new in the next vote, just like you might change your favorite game if it gets boring!
