What are distinct elements?

Distinct elements are like special friends in a group, each one is different and has its own place.

Imagine you have a toy box full of toys: cars, blocks, balls, and dolls. Each toy is an element in the box. Now, if your toy box only had one kind of toy, say, all cars, then there would be no distinct elements because they are all the same. But if you have a mix, like some red cars, blue cars, and even a green ball, then each different type is a distinct element, because they stand out from the others.

What makes something "distinct"?

Think about your lunchbox. If it has apples, bananas, and cookies, those are all distinct elements because you can tell them apart easily. But if you had three apples in there, even if they were slightly different sizes, to someone else, they might look the same. So, for something to be a distinct element, it needs to be clearly different from others in the group.
