What are energy levels?

Imagine your toy box is like a special kind of playground where your toys can only sit on certain steps, not anywhere they want.

Energy levels are like those steps in the toy box. Just as your toys can only be on specific steps, tiny particles inside atoms can only be in certain places, and each place has a different amount of energy.

Like Stair Steps for Tiny Particles

Think about climbing stairs. You can’t stand halfway between two steps, you’re either on one or the other. The same thing happens with energy levels. Tiny particles, like electrons, jump from one level to another, just like you step up or down a stair.

When they move to a higher level, it's like climbing up a few steps, they need more energy. When they drop to a lower level, it’s like sliding down, they release some energy.

So, energy levels are like stairs that tiny particles use to move around inside atoms, simple and fun!
