What are fibonacci numbers?

Fibonacci numbers are a special pattern that appears when you count things growing or adding up step by step.

Imagine you have a pair of rabbits. They take one month to grow up, and then every month after that, they have a new baby pair of rabbits. These babies also take one month to grow up before they start having babies too. If you count how many pairs of rabbits there are each month, the numbers follow a special pattern.

How the Pattern Works

Start with 1 pair of rabbits.

  • After 1 month, still just 1 pair (they’re not old enough to have babies yet).
  • After 2 months, they have 1 new baby pair, so you now have 2 pairs total.
  • After 3 months, the original pair has another baby pair, and the first baby pair is now grown up. That makes 3 pairs total.

This pattern keeps going:

1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13...

Each number is the sum of the two numbers before it, just like how the rabbit family grows!
