What are flattened organizational hierarchies?

A flattened organizational hierarchy is like having fewer layers between you and the boss, it makes things simpler and more fun.

Imagine a big toy factory where everyone has to ask their neighbor, then the neighbor asks someone else, and so on until the boss hears what’s going on. That’s like a tall building with lots of floors, each floor is a layer in the hierarchy.

Now imagine that same toy factory, but now everyone can talk directly to the boss or even work together as equals. That’s a flattened organizational hierarchy, it’s like having fewer steps between you and your goal.

In a regular factory, if you want to show off your cool new robot, you might have to go through 5 people before the boss sees it. In a flattened one, you just walk up to the boss or maybe even chat with someone right next to you, no need for all those steps!

It’s like playing tag, instead of having to run past 10 kids to get to the person who's "it," you can just jump in and play.
