Ghostly appearances are when things seem to be there, but they're not really there, like seeing a friend in front of you, but they just vanished!
Imagine you're playing hide and seek with your brother. You peek around the corner, and you see him, laughing behind the couch. But when you run over, he's gone. That’s kind of like a ghostly appearance, you saw something, but it wasn’t really there anymore.
Like a disappearing cookie
Think about a cookie on the table. You sit down to eat it, and suddenly, poof!, it's gone. Maybe your sister took it without saying anything. That’s like a ghostly appearance too: the cookie seemed to be there, but then it wasn’t anymore.
When things look real, but aren't
Sometimes you see something that looks just like someone or something you know, maybe a shadow that moves just like your mom. But when you go closer, it's just a shadow, not really your mom. That’s another kind of ghostly appearance!
It's like pretending: you think you're seeing something real, but it’s just a trick the light or your imagination played on you!
