Injuries are when parts of your body get hurt because they’re used too much or bumped or twisted in a wrong way.
Imagine you have a super strong toy car that can zoom around the house all day long. But one day, it crashes into a wall really hard, bang! The front of the car gets bent out of shape and doesn’t work like before. That’s kind of like what happens to your body when you get an injury.
What Injuries Feel Like
When something hurts, it's like your body is saying, “Hey! I need a break!” You might feel ouch, sting, or even cramp, all different ways your body lets you know it’s not happy. Sometimes the hurt is quick, like when you trip and fall; other times, it lingers, like when you play too long on the swing set.
How Injuries Happen
Injuries can come from many things:
- Falling, like spilling your juice all over the floor
- Twisting, like when you turn too fast on a merry-go-round
- Bumping, like when you run into a friend playing tag
Your body is tough, but it needs time to heal, just like that toy car needs a little fixing after its crash!
Examples
- A kid falls off their bike and gets a scraped knee.
- A football player twists his ankle during the game.
- An old person slips on ice and breaks their hip.
