What are private schools?

Private schools are schools that you pay to go to, instead of going to a school your town gives you for free.

Imagine you have two kinds of candy stores in your neighborhood: one is run by the town, and it has all the basic candies everyone gets. The other is like a special candy shop where you can pick the best candies, and you pay a little extra to get them. Private schools are like that special candy shop, they have their own rules, teachers, and ways of learning.

How They Work

In most towns, kids go to public schools. These are paid for by the town using money from taxes, so everyone can go for free. But if you want a different kind of school, maybe one with smaller classes or special subjects like art or music, you can choose to go to a private school instead.

To get into a private school, your family usually has to pay tuition every year, just like paying for extra snacks at the candy store. Some private schools are really famous and have very strict rules about who can join, it's like getting into a club with cool members!
