What are psychological factors?

Psychological factors are things that influence how we feel and think, just like how a favorite toy can make you happy or a rainy day can make you sleepy.

Imagine your brain is like a robot inside your head, and psychological factors are the buttons on that robot. When you press certain buttons, like thinking about something fun or feeling scared, it makes the robot (your brain) do different things, which changes how you act and feel.

How feelings work

Sometimes, when you’re playing with your favorite toy, you feel really happy. That’s a psychological factor, the joy from playing. But if someone takes your toy away, you might feel sad or angry. That's another psychological factor, the feeling of loss or frustration.

How thoughts work

Your brain also thinks about things. If you're worried about going to school because you don’t know the answer to a question, that’s a psychological factor too. It affects how you feel and what you do next, just like a cloud covering the sun on a bright day, it makes everything look a little darker for a while.
