Ruins are like old buildings that have been left behind after people stopped using them.
Imagine you have a toy house that you played with every day. One day, you stop playing with it, and it gets dusty and broken. Maybe even some of the blocks fall apart. That’s kind of what happens to ruins, they were once big houses or cities, but now they're just parts of them left behind.
What Do Ruins Look Like?
Ruins can look like giant, broken puzzles. You might see walls that are not straight anymore, or rooftops that have fallen down. Sometimes you can find old stairs leading to nowhere, or big stones that were once part of a door.
Why Are There Ruins?
People build cities and buildings for many years, sometimes hundreds or even thousands of years! But then, one day, they might move away because of something like a war, a flood, or just getting tired of living there. When that happens, the buildings don’t get fixed anymore, and they start to fall apart, becoming ruins.
