Sizes are how we tell how big or small something is compared to other things.
Imagine you have a box of crayons. Some are short, some are long, that’s their size! Just like when you wear shoes: your little brother’s shoes are smaller, and yours are bigger.
Like Blocks in a Tower
Think about building with blocks. If you stack two small blocks on top of each other, they might not reach as high as stacking three big ones. The size of the block affects how tall your tower gets!
Sizes Are Everywhere
When you eat an apple, it can be big, like a baseball, or small, like a marble. When you jump in a pool, the size of the pool tells you if it’s just for kids or for grown-ups too.
So sizes help us understand and compare things, from crayons to shoes to apples!
Examples
- A grain of sand is about the same size as a single cell in your body.
- A football field is much bigger than a classroom.
