What are strong acids?

Strong acids are super powerful when it comes to making things tangy or fizzy.

Imagine you have a lemon, it’s sour because it has citric acid, which is kind of like a regular acid. But a strong acid is more like the king of lemons, it’s so strong that it can change other stuff easily when it mixes with water.

A strong acid doesn’t hold back, when you put it in water, it completely breaks apart into its pieces. Think of it like a LEGO tower that falls down all at once instead of slowly crumbling. The more it breaks apart, the more it can do things like make bubbles or help other stuff react.

Vinegar is kind of like a weak acid, it’s sour but not super powerful. But something like hydrochloric acid (which is in your stomach when you have heartburn) is a strong acid, it breaks apart totally and can really make things happen!

So, strong acids are just the tangiest, most powerful acids around, and they don’t hold back!
