What are substances or energies?

Substances and energies are like building blocks that make everything around you work.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toys, maybe blocks or cars. The substances are the actual things you touch, like the plastic of a toy car or the wood in a block. They’re what makes up the things you see and feel.

Now think about when you push a toy car across the floor, that’s energy! It's what makes things move or change. Energy is like the invisible force behind your actions, like when you jump, run, or even laugh.

Substances are materials that make up everything around us. Your juice box is made of plastic, your pencil has wood and graphite, and even you are made of cells and water, all kinds of substances working together!

Energies are the forces that make things happen. When you kick a ball, you're using your body’s energy to move it. The sun gives us light and heat, which is also a kind of energy.

So, substances are what things are made of, and energies are what makes them do cool stuff!
