A winning country is a country that does really well at something fun like sports or games, just like your favorite team wins when they play against others.
Imagine you and your friends are playing a game of tag in the park. The person who catches the most people becomes the winner of the game. Now imagine every kid in the neighborhood is on a different team, some teams are really fast, others are super sneaky, and some just can’t catch anyone no matter how hard they try.
A winning country is like that really fast or sneaky team. It's a group of people who live together in one place (like your neighborhood) and work together to do something great, maybe win the most medals at the Olympics, or grow the most food, or even build the tallest tower with blocks!
Sometimes, countries compete against each other, like in a big game. If they do really well, we call them winning countries, just like you'd say your team is the winning team if they catch everyone at tag.
Examples
- France wins in art and culture events, like the Olympics.
