When you touch something hot, your skin feels like it’s burning because of special sensors in your body called heat receptors. These sensors send a message to your brain that says, ‘Something is really hot!’ Your brain then tells your body it hurts, and that’s why you feel the ‘burning’ feeling.
Examples
- Touching a hot pan makes your hand feel like it's on fire.
- Holding a cup of steaming coffee causes your fingers to tingle and burn.
- Putting your hand near a campfire gives you a warm, burning feeling.
