Imagine you dig a big, empty hole straight down to the other side of Earth. If you jumped in, gravity would pull you toward the center, and then push you out on the far side, like a fun ride! But it wouldn’t stop there; you’d keep going back and forth like a swing, unless something stopped you or you went through the air instead of empty space.
What Gravity Does
Gravity pulls things toward Earth’s center. So when you jump into the hole, it would pull you all the way to the middle, then push you out on the other side, just like a bungee cord! You’d go up and down forever unless something stopped you.
Examples
- You jump into a big hole on one side of the world and come out on the other
- You swing back and forth through the tunnel like a pendulum
