What is ads?

"Ads are messages that try to get you to want something."

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, and suddenly a bright picture pops up on the screen showing a really cool new toy. That's an ad, it’s trying to make you want the new toy instead of your old one.

How ads work

Ads are like messages from companies that say, "Look at me! I have something fun or useful for you!"

Sometimes, you see them on TV, where a character in a cartoon might start using a cool gadget. Other times, you see them on a phone screen while you're playing a game.

Why ads matter

Ads help companies tell people about their products, just like how your teacher tells the class about a new game to play. They want more people to know about what they have so more people might buy it or try it out.

So next time you see something fun on the screen, remember, that's an ad trying to catch your eye!
