What is CO2?

CO₂ is like the invisible friend that stays with us when we breathe out and play all day.

Imagine you're running around at the park, playing tag with your friends. When you run, you take big breaths in, air goes into your lungs. But when you stop to catch your breath, you breathe out, and what comes out is CO₂, which is like a tiny bubble of air that your body made.

Now think about the whole world doing this all day, every day. People, cars, even trees and animals are breathing in and out, making CO₂ all the time. It's kind of like when you blow up balloons, every time you blow, you're making more air bubbles.

Sometimes, there’s so much CO₂ in the air that it can make the Earth a little warmer, just like how a blanket keeps you warm at night. Scientists are watching this closely to keep our planet comfortable for everyone, including you!

Why It Matters

Think of CO₂ as the exhaust from your toy car when it zooms around the room. Every time something moves or lives, it makes some CO₂. Over time, if we make too much of it, it’s like having a lot of blankets on top of us, we might get a little too warm!
