What is Cold War?

The Cold War was like a big, long game of tug-of-war between two giant teams, the United States and Russia.

Imagine you and your friend are having a tug-of-war in the playground. You both want to win, but instead of just pulling until one of you falls over, you both try to make each other lose by doing sneaky things behind the scenes. That's kind of what happened during the Cold War.

The United States and Russia were like two kids who didn’t get along, they had different ideas about how the world should be run. The US wanted freedom, while Russia wanted everyone to follow its rules. So they started doing things like helping other countries fight wars, sending astronauts into space, and building really big weapons that could destroy whole cities.

Even though they were rivals, they never actually fought a real war, that’s why it's called the Cold War. It was more like a long, sneaky competition where each side tried to show who was stronger without really hitting each other. And just like in a game, sometimes one kid would win a round, but the game kept going on for years!
